From the first great city fire, Herrieden loses significance in the Reich (German term for empire). In 1316, for very personal reasons, emperor Ludwig the Bavarian has the city of Herrieden destroyed. In 1470, Jakob Fugger „the rich” studies at the monastery school of Herrieden.
The atrocities from the 30-year war (Bernhard von Weimar) speak for themselves.
A little-known fact is that, in 1703/04, was the seat of government of the Bishop of Eichstätt.
Also largely unknown is the fact that Herrieden was Prussian from 1792 onward until it became part of Bavaria in 1806.
